The terrace is a public space

• BELSIZE Terrace is a public space for all to use, not a commercial one, especially during the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic.
People gather here, socially-distanced, to look after their mental health. It is government policy to promote this use of outside space with more benches.
All the restaurants around the terrace have large spaces in the buildings for dining and in most cases plenty of room to put tables for outdoor eating.
If the terrace becomes a dining area it will bring punters from outside the area which will produce parking congestion and more rubbish to be stored and taken away.
Camden Council’s policy is to reduce traffic. Camden’s policy is to make play streets.
I would propose that Camden consults with the individual business and the local community on attractively and purposefully looking again at the terrace to take into account the pedestrian footprint and traffic as well as the location of rubbish, cycle racks, and suitable locations for seating.
