The school-run is back
Thursday, 11th March 2021
• WHAT a sick joke.
Schools back this week (Monday) but despite all the efforts of the environmentalists, parents’ concern over pollution, and Camden Council’s efforts, Rosslyn Hill, Haverstock Hill, Pond Street and, no doubt, Fitzjohn’s Avenue were locked solid with school-run cars driven by the same “caring” parents.
Yet the extra “children-only” buses on the 46 and C11 routes were virtually empty.
It just proves that people will not give up their oversize, fuel-guzzling, 4x4s; and no doubt complain about the traffic jams caused by others. And the secondary schools have not started yet!
Other than some sort of legislation to prevent this waste there seems no way to “persuade” parents to leave their cars at home. And the private experimental school buses that have been tried failed abysmally.
Now Camden Council want to restrict the road space on Haverstock Hill for cycle lanes, no doubt causing even more jams – what a waste!
