Mary Fielding Guild care home

• I AGREE with Robert Taylor from Camden Federation of Private Tenants, (Having a secure, affordable and safe home is fundamental, March 18).

The closure of Mary Feilding Guild is a truly shocking and cruel piece of administration that I believe could have been prevented if the needs of people had been put before profit.

Expecting people of that age and health to be separated and dispersed into other care homes, which will not have the same unique ethos as the MFG, is nothing less than barbaric.

The further waste of money and materials in demolishing the building is another symptom of this; all unnecessary and part of the destruction of London and its very special and unique places.

The fact that this decision was made without public consultation or disclosure makes it even worse.

My heart goes out to the residents; and if anyone needs a temporary spare room at the end of May, please get in touch via the Camden New Journal.
