The hospital got it wrong
Thursday, 9th January

Bill Briscoe fractured his foot, but not in his bedroom!
• THE other day I was walking up St Albans Road, NW5, and happened to stand on something sharp which made me shift my weight to keep my balance and I accidentally bashed my right foot against a pile of stuff that happened to be on the path.
It hurt pretty bad when I tried to walk, so, as I was quite near a bus stop I took the C11 bus towards home in Gospel Oak.
The thought occurred to me that the bus route continues right past the Royal Free Hospital so I thought it might be wise to go and get it checked out.
When I arrived I gave my details at the admissions desk and was then sent to x-ray, obviously I had to wait around for quite a while for the results and then further consultation and so on.
Apparently the bone is fractured so they have given me a “boot” to wear and crutches to use to get around easier.
I then came home – on the bus – with the intention to rest up as best as I could.
I realise only now, after reading through some of the paperwork they had given me, that much of the information is either not relevant or just plain wrong.
Information on the hospital paperwork was either not relevant or just plain wrong
It states the wrong address, the wrong phone number, the wrong next of kin name, wrong arrival method, wrong incident location (bedroom?)
I may not have been to the doctor for a very long time but what is that all that about?
The people on the desk may well be busy but they have completely ignored just about every answer that I gave them when they asked me all of these very questions? Then what was the point?
Surely these things should at least be updated or corrected if and or when you visit a hospital next.
Please don’t make me out to be a doddery old man. I may be 70 years old but I am not senile. Yet.
Be advised, this is not my bedroom in the photograph.
