• MY father was the publican at the Magdala pub in Hampstead for 25 years and I was fast asleep upstairs in my bedroom when the Ruth Ellis shooting happened, (Magdala Tavern: Historic ‘Ruth Ellis pub’ in Hampstead set to reopen, March 4).
