Reinstate councillors who have suffered from the ex-chief whips reports

Lazzaro Pietrganoli posed as a mother in social housing over five years

• FOLLOWING the disgraceful and scandalous behaviour of Camden’s former Labour chief whip, Lazzaro Pietragnoli, (Organisers send ‘sock puppet’ whip reports for audit, December 2), why is there no investigation and why has he not been immediately expelled from the Labour Party?

We now hear how a conscientious Labour backbench councillor, Paul Tomlinson, is shockingly deselected from standing in next year’s elections, (The big purge? Councillor who spoke out against new skyscraper on green space is deselected by Labour, December 2).

He has done everything a good councillor should do and stood up for his constituents. And yet it seems that Mr Pietragnoli has submitted an adverse report which has led to Paul Tomlinson’s deselection.

With other councillors in the same boat, if they are deselected too, then the council chamber will indeed be stuffed with puppets. This would be bad for good governance of the council, bad for democracy, and bad for the people of Camden.

I therefore call on the Labour Party to reinstate all those councillors who have been abused by the former chief whip and who have been adversely affected by his reports.
