Our work on playgrounds in the parks
Thursday, 11th March 2021
• THE Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill together receive more than 10.5 million visits a year making them two of the most loved parks in the country, (Open all of the playgrounds, March 4).
They contain four playgrounds, one of which is Gloucester Gate playground that underwent a complete transformation last year that saw the old, flat and metal, playground replaced with an accessible and modern space made from natural materials such as wood, rope, bark and willow, and interspersed with hedges, trees, flowers and grasses.
We reopened this playground in September 2020 and its use and operation has been monitored since then.
Further improvement works were identified, and we are pleased to report that Gloucester Gate playground is now fully open following completion of these works.
With regard to Primrose Hill playground and Hanover Gate playground, some pieces of equipment have come to the end of their life, and these need to be replaced.
The popularity of the playgrounds can mean that the shelf-life of equipment is shorter than those of less popular playgrounds. We are current investigating options to fund these replacements.
We would like to reassure all visitors that all playgrounds in the Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill are open, and would like to thank them for their patience while we look at options for replacing costly playground equipment.
