Oppose the towers plan [Kipper Williams]

• CAMDEN’S electorate seem to be quite dissatisfied with the current Labour council administration and their support staff, the officers.

This is whether on political grounds; or for a necessary action such as reporting a housing repair; or, as in this case, the wall of silence persisting as regards the Bacton Low Rise site and the Mount Anvil plans to build a huge tower of private dwellings unaffordable to most Camden residents.

Is this, however, about to change? On February 20 at 7pm, at the Queen’s Crescent Community Centre, there will be a very informative and inclusive meeting for all stakeholders on the plans for the site and the role we can play in it.

To that end a lone Camden Labour councillor, a council officer (thus far), several tenants’ and residents’ associations, businesses, community projects, and more will have the floor to speak to those who will be very adversely affected by the Mount Anvil plans.

Let us gather in the momentum of the opposition to make sure all voices are heard this time, and not be stalled by Camden Council, who can still apply the brakes to this unwieldy project for homes, and take stock of our concerns.

Please clear your diaries for February 20 to hear what is or isn’t being offered to placate our collective stance.

Camden, get your innovative hat on, as before, to build the homes the community needs, and not the disproportionate ratio demanded by Mount Anvil.

Bacton towers action are a small group of volunteers who comprise, for the most part, employees and retirees, but our costs are mounting.
