• THE real issue in this takeover of some GP surgeries by a US health insurer is that it was made possible from 2004 that for-profit companies could win contracts to provide GP surgeries.

That being the case, there seems to be no legal reason why one of these companies should not be sold to any other health company including an American one, and therefore no recourse to the law for preventing or reversing the takeover of these Camden surgeries by Centene.

What we should be campaigning and lobbying the UK government for is the entire return of GP surgery management to the NHS.
