It’s Londoners taking over cycling!
Thursday, 11th March 2021
• JENNY Jordan writes that “Cyclists are now gradually taking over London” but the reality is quite the opposite, that Londoners are gradually taking up and taking over cycling, (Every week they’re closing roads, February 25).
Long may this continue if it means we move people to forms of transport that take up less space per person on our roads.
Ms Jordan adds that “We are constantly being told to walk or cycle or shop locally. That’s fine if you can afford to”, which is odd given that walking is the cheapest way to get anywhere, with cycling not far behind.
As for the cost of not shopping locally, there’s not enough space here to describe the damage that people avoiding local shops is doing to communities and economies.
