I am concerned by the commercialisation of community space here

• I AM increasingly concerned by the commercialisation of the community space in Belsize Terrace.

Having recently moved to the area, and as a solo mum, it is such a special meeting place.

Just last Sunday my daughter met another toddler of the same age and they played together while I was able to chat to other parents.

To be able to do this is a great support and community benefit. However this was not possible last summer with the streatery.

I distinctly remember the day my daughter and I squashed onto a bench trying to enjoy an orange juice and feeling like we shouldn’t be there.

The terrace was thronged by diners and busy waitresses rushing around. Not to mention the manager controlling the area and selecting suitable people for the best tables.

The community spirit of the terrace was complete spoilt by this over-commercialisation and, as a local, I strongly object to the streatery returning.

I hope this local perspective will be considered in the future.
