WATCH: Gluten Free Festival to take over Camden Market
Wednesday, 13th May 2015
AS healthy food trends continue to gain in popularity, Camden Market is getting ready to host its own Gluten Free Festival.
This weekend (May 16 and 17), fifteen traders will put on a spread of gluten free morsels, with everything from cakes to full savoury dinners on offer. There will also be a series of food demonstrations in the Middle Yard, starting at 12pm and continuing every hour, on the hour.
The festival, in collaboration with Whole Foods, will feature traders including Feed Me Primal, Cupcakes and Shhht and Maize Blaze.
When asked why more people were turning to gluten-free food, Gemma Callender from Feed Me Primal said: “Scientific research is now confirming that more people than ever are developing food allergies and intolerances. As we become more tuned in to the foods we eat, we are aware of the effects they have on us, both mentally and physically. Eating a gluten free diet is a positive step towards a healthier way of eating.”
Gluten, which causes stomach problems for those with an intolerance, can be found in foods such as bread, pasta and cakes. Nowadays, more options are becoming available, which allow people to eat a wider range of food.
Organisers believe Camden was the ideal choice for the festival as it is “one of the only markets in London” who cater to people with various food allergies, with other stalls including dairy free, paleo, vegetarian and vegan options.
