Fancy dress shop says ‘liberal Camden' loves x-rated Halloween costumes

A CHALK Farm fancy dress shop is sticking by its decision to stock one of Britain’s most outrageous Halloween costumes – which is too X-rated for the New Journal to print without some careful censoring.
Escapade, which is known for pushing the limits and has a mannequin being frazzled on an electric chair on display in its front window, is stocking the “Down For The Count” costume, in which customers dress up as a vampire permanently caught with his pants down, with a blow-up doll attached to the groin area.
Manager Luke Potter said: “It is one of our more popular costumes. The more comedic ones do well. We have never had a costume that is too outrageous to sell here. People in Camden are quite liberal, so the more shocking the costume, the better they tend to do.”
The shop is known for queues down Chalk Farm on the days running up to fright night.
Mr Potter said this year’s best-sellers had included the “Very Cool Vampire”, a sassy female Batman villain known as the Harley Quinn, and the whole range of Walking Dead zombie outfits. “This is our Christmas,” added Escapade staff member Hal Sinden.
Past customers at Escapade have included actor Jude Law and singer Gwen Stefani, said Mr Potter, who also decked out the entire Arsenal football team in superhero outfits for a party last Christmas.
