‘New cycle lanes and low traffic neighbourhoods made our ride safer, easier, and more enjoyable’
• “NAME and address supplied” responded to my letter about cycling with a friend during lockdown to ask: Why was he an exception? (Letters, February 25). I’m not.
You can quite legally cycle (or walk) with one other person who is not from your household as part of your daily exercise as long as you stay two metres apart.
Which means a grandparent is free to do the same with their grandchildren. Take one grandchild at a time out for a walk or cycle, once a day, and every day. See the section under exercise: www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home.
I’m sure you will both enjoy the company and the fresh air. My friend (in his 70s) and I had a lovely ride on Friday together. His wife waved to me from the doorstep and thanked me for getting him out of the house.
Camden’s new protected cycle lanes and low traffic neighbourhoods made our ride together safer, easier, and more enjoyable.
