Cyclists can be very dangerous

Thursday, 18th March 2021

• IN answer to Jean Dollimore (Sometimes I ride a bike and sometimes I walk, March 11, responding to my February 25 letter, Every week they’re closing roads), you are very lucky to be able to walk and cycle a lot.

There are a lot of people who can’t walk far and don’t wish to cycle; which you don’t seem to have any thought for.

As you are able to do the above, I would have thought “going to official crossings and waiting for a signal…” to cross the road (your words) was no bother as you are very active.

As we have had official crossings for years I think you will find we would still need them.

Cyclists can be very dangerous. Ninety per cent of cyclists don’t stop at red lights anyway and still ride on the pavements.

I am not daunted by cycling at all. When I was younger I used to cycle a lot. Also far from going everywhere by car, I use buses and trains a lot.
