Ellis Rhys Hill, who studies at Middlesex University, stands head and shoulders above the crowds, measuring in at around 7ft in his 6-inch platforms from TK Maxx. The 20-year-old fashion student made his skinny black trousers himself and teamed them with socks and a shirt from American Apparel, a sparkly crop top from Boohoo.com and a denim jacket from Rokit. He has accessorised with a backwards cap from Primark and some chokers from eBay. Ellis, from Bradford, said: “Wear what's comfortable, don't try to fit in with trends, if you like it, wear it.”

Alice Cespa, 20, from near Florence in Italy, stands out in her fun, quirky outfit. She works the layered look with a Micky Mouse jumper from Pull & Bear over a denim shirt from Primark and a coat from Woolrich on top, worn with ripped jeans from Bershka and maroon Dr Martens. She has accessorised with a furry hat from H&M, round glasses from an independent shop in Camden, a gold chain and a black bag from Prima Donna.

Luke Jackson from Preston, a writer who is best known for his book “Freaks, Geeks and Asperger's Syndrome”, is down for a day out in London. The 26-year-old author, who used to work around Angel, is wearing a striped Feraud shirt with a smart waistcoat, some French Connection trousers and black brogues. He has accessorised with a Criminal Damage belt and a colourful Marvel backpack. He said: “My style is eclectic, I throw everything together and I live in TK Maxx and charity shops. I also try and shop locally.”

“Cybergoth” Lucy Walker is wearing a long jacket from a cosplay website, which is a prop replica of a character in a video game called Devil May Cry. She has teamed it with a top from eBay, black skinny jeans from Tesco, New Rock boots and a bag from Cyberdog. The 19-year-old from Cambridge, who is currently taking a gap year to work on her tattoo portfolio, has matched her new belt from Cyberdog with her bright green hair. About to embark on an apprenticeship in tattooing and piercing, Lucy has five tunnel earrings herself, as well as studs in her nose, chin and lips, some of which she did herself.

Alanna Wurm, from Ireland, is down for a weekend in London. She is a wearing a ballerina style skirt from Chicwish – a trend seen on the catwalks for Valentino and Armani for Spring/Summer 2015. Alanna has teamed this with a vintage brown jacket which used to belong to her mum, a black top from Marks and Spencer, black leggings and Dr Martens. She has accessorised with a green scarf and a fedora hat from River Island and she carries a black bag from H&M. The 20-year-old psychology student, who prefers not to look “too serious” described her own style as “grannyish” but well put together.

XFM radio presenter Hattie Pearson was spotted out and about in Camden Town this week looking stylish as ever. The 25-year-old said houndstooth prints are her current favourite style, as seen in her scarf “which she wears with everything” and tights. She is wearing these with a simple baggy grey dress from ASOS.com, a light brown jacket from Missguided, Dr Martens, and a bag from Accessorize.
