Jean Rene, 20, from Paris, France, is enjoying a weekend in London. He wears a red leather jacket over a black top, both from Zara, slim-fit jeans from H&M and snake skin print shoes from a market in France. He has topped it all off with a furry wolf hat that he picked up in Camden market. Jean, who works as a carer for older people, said: “Be who are you, without overdoing it.”

Neta Celestine from Paris, spends her time working alongside Mickey Mouse and friends at Disneyland – but does no dressing up herself. She is wearing boots from Aldo, some rolled-up jeans from Roxy, an orange Playboy crop top and a coat and hat from H&M. The 22-year-old who is originally from the Dominican Republic, has come over for a city break in London. She said: “It is not like France here, people in Paris are very cold and always angry. Here, people are always smiling and they wear loads of different styles, it really represents fashion.”

Marie Antaprakarn, a life sciences student, keeps things simple and classy with a black Mango coat, a Burberry scarf, Acne boots and a brown leather bag. The 23-year-old, who lives in west London but is originally from Japan said the style is very different in the two places: “Over there, they are a lot more independent and original, there is a lot more expression in what they wear,” she said.

Alison Whittaker, 30, an accounts assistant from Hayes, Middlesex, is wearing a floral print dress and a pink coat, both bough online from Boohoo, a faux-fur scarf from New Look and some boots which she snapped up on eBay. Alison said: “Wear what you feel comfortable in and don't be afraid of colour. I'm a fan of fake fur at the moment, especially woolly hats.”

Marketing student Skarn Pat is braving the cold in a little black dress with a black and gold belt from shops in Bangkok. She has added a black leather jacket from a market in Notting Hill, knee high brown boots from Oxford Street and a black NY cap. The 23-year-old, who is originally from Thailand but living near Greenwich believes that clothes should be fun. “You can create anything you want with clothes, you can make your look really fun and interesting,” she said.

Becky Dorgan, from Ireland, is out filming a music video in Camden High Street for a rapper called Hannibal Barca. There are plenty of onlookers sneaking a peek as she directs a man holding a placard which claims “the end is nigh,” as part of the end-of-the-world themed shoot. The 21-year-old is wearing a furry black jacket from TK Maxx, a printed jumper from Urban Outfitters, some high-waisted Primark jeans, some Underground Creepers and a tasselled, Aztec print bag from Primark.
