Laura Beth Jones, 19, from Barnet admits that she is not your average looking professional violinist… her gothic look is made up of a long black top from H&M, a little shrug from Cyberdog, black tights, platform boots from Demonia, a bat bag that she found on eBay and a studded choker. Her piercings and futuristic make-up spice up the look, with a pale base, dark features and white dots in the place of eyebrows. She said that her look was inspired by her travels to different countries, including Japan and New York where she grew up.

Gabor Nabas, from Cambridge, has come to London to watch a gig as part of the iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse with his girlfriend. The 28-year-old, who breeds racehorses for a living, has chosen a colourful short-sleeved shirt and trainers from Vans, with Levi's jeans. Originally from Hungary, Gabor said that he gets another tattoo every time he goes back home as it is “cheaper and better quality.”

Alexis Rogers, from West London, who works for a technology company, is dressed in clothes that she found on eBay, opting for a long vintage dress with a thin belt and a wide-brimmed hat. She carries a red leather bag that she picked up on a trip to Holland, and wears designer platform boots. Alexis, whose 1970s look is inspired by Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac, said you should always choose “style over fashion” and wear something “flattering”.

Aarthi Paul is from east London, but adds: “It's not the cool bit but the grimy bit.” She is wearing blue acid wash jeans from Topshop, a white lace blazer from River Island, and a shimmery green top, with black boots from Aldo. She has added a pale, reflective necklace from Forever 21 which matches her nail polish, and a watch from Marc Jacobs. The 24-year-old, who works in advertising, is often told that her look is “edgy” but said that when it comes to style, men and women often find different things attractive, and there is nothing wrong with putting a masculine spin on your style, so “if you want to wear a boxy blazer, you go for it”.

Jemima Haque, who works at the Guardian newspaper, is wearing her Friday casual outfit, with vintage “mum” jeans from Blitz in Brick Lane, a stripy top and a pair of boots from H&M. She has tied a scarf from Urban Outfitters around her vintage bag and added a necklace from Dorothy Perkins . The 24-year-old, from Essex, said she wakes up with different characters, today she is “Lazy Jemima,” but on other days we have “Preppy Jemima,” “Smart Jemima,” “Hipster Jemima,” and even “School Girl Jemima”.

Dawn Chambers, 29, who is originally from Northern Ireland but living in Mile End, has dressed up to go to a gig at the Roundhouse with her boyfriend. She is wearing a long black dress with a slit from H&M, a skinny belt from Topshop, a pair of strappy heels from Office and a little leather satchel that she received as a gift. Dawn, a client manager for luxury brands, said that when choosing an outfit, the most important thing is to look “hot”.
