Camden street style #25: The last days of summer
Tuesday, 26th August 2014

Bethany Alexander, 19, from Feltham in Hounslow, has dressed up in a casual, Rockabilly style for a day out for her boyfriend's birthday. She explains that she has chosen a more practical, day-to-day twist on the glamorous look, as “high-heeled wedges aren't exactly suitable for walking around London Zoo,” which is where she has just come from. Today she is wearing Converse high-top trainers with a pair of high-waisted jeans and a red belt from eBay, a top from George at Asda, white sunglasses from Tiger and a red headband from New Look.
Pavlo Dyadyk, 21, a student who is studying politics at London Metropolitan University, is wearing a summer suit from ASOS with a floral-print Zara shirt, brown shoes from Office, and some sunglasses that he picked up in Camden Market. Pavlo, originally from Ukraine but living in west London, said: “It is the last days of summer so you have to make the most of it while it lasts… it's all about flowers, shorts and moccasins.”
Anya Spencer-Peet, 23, from Camden is wearing a colourful shirt and silver shoes from Zara, skinny blue trousers from Topshop, a clutch bag from Whistles and a furry sleeveless jacket from a stall in Camden Market. Anya, who lives in Camden Town, is no stranger to fashion – working as a creative assistant for Topshop, she spends much of her day putting together looks for the shop's mannequins and giving style tips to customers.
Ammara Niwaz, from Islington is a fan of vintage fashion – she is wearing a pair of jeans and a leather jacket, both from Beyond Retro with a stripy crop top from H&M and a pair of Dr. Martens boots. The 20-year-old drama student, who likes the “old school” style, recommends choosing one key piece that you can wear with everything – personally, she likes to go for colourful bomber jackets that brighten up any look.
Andrea Perez, 25, from Columbia, is studying fashion design in Italy's style capital, Milan. She has come over to London to visit her cousin dressed in a black jumpsuit from H&M, a two-tone coat from Stradivarius, some Nike trainers, a khaki hat from Zara, and a handbag from Louis Vuitton. Her best bit of advice is adding an accessory that brings everything together and describes her own style as “a little bit hippy.”
Sarah Luna, 33, a PhD student from Brazil, is in town for an event at King's College. She has mixed up high-end designer fashion with high street style by wearing a patterned playsuit from Bershka with a smart jacket and sunglasses from Zara, a scarf and earrings from Primark and a golden necklace from Stradivarius, along with a designer bag and shoes from Chanel and a watch from Michael Kors. She said that the most important thing is to identify with the clothes you are wearing, and added: “Don't be a fashion victim”.
