Backlog and sides: Barbers work hard to meet lockdown demand
'Trying to trim it yourself is a bit undignified'

AS hairdressers welcomed back straggly-looking regulars this week, staff said they were trying to make up for lost time.
Queues formed outside barber shops on Monday as customers had their first chance to get a trim.
Medi Rahimi of the Magic Hair Salon in Queen’s Crescent said: “It has been obviously hard and people are welcoming us back, but I also think they are getting used to the idea we are open. It doesn’t feel normal yet for many.”
He said: “We also have people coming in wanting their eyebrows done too, so we are doing walk-ins for the regulars.”
Ossie’s in Parkway, Camden Town, was also rammed. Regular Jonathan Goldser told the New Journal: “I had cut my own hair and it wasn’t the best job – trying to trim it yourself is a bit undignified.”
A queue for Camden Barbers
And close to our offices, Camden Barbers in Camden Road saw people queuing outside – and staff busy with all chairs full. One barber, who did not want to be named, said: “We’ve been non-stop all day, and we have seen some very funny hairstyles needing some careful attention.”
