What do they mean by healthy?
Thursday, 5th October 2023
• PEOPLE living in and around Dartmouth Park are being urged to respond to a joint Camden and Islington “consultation” on their decision to create this “Healthy Neighbourhood”.
Nowhere do they actually define what, in practice, their concept of a “healthy” is.
There is nothing remotely unhealthy, in a meaningful sense of the word, about this part of London.
They say local people are concerned about streets and road safety. How many? How “concerned”, who, primarily?
This sort of initiative is always the precursor to major inconveniences being imposed on ordinary people’s lives to the advantage of that vocal cohort of relatively young, mainly male, cyclists who appear to want to clear everyone else off the roads.
I ask everyone to withhold their response to this consultation until the councils come clean about what it is they want to do, and how far along their planning has already reached.
Camden Council are always saying they can’t do proper housing repairs or respond easily to tenants’ needs because the government does not give them enough money.
Well, they could save a chunk of money by not endlessly fiddling about with people’s daily lives.
