Tribute to famous faces we lost over the course of the year
Graphic artist to unveil the 10th and final instalment of his celebrity montage series
Friday, 28th November

HERE’S a good pub quiz question: what do Edgar Allan Poe, Marilyn Monroe and Karl Marx have in common?
The above illustration might have given it away but the answer is they all appear on Peter Blake and Jann Haworth’s Grammy Award-winning album cover for The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band.
Look closely at the image printed here and you’ll note other famous faces – there’s Muhammad Ali, Victoria Wood and George Michael, along with chilling reminders of Brexit and the emergence of Maga. It’s the first of graphic artist Chris Barker’s annual tributes to the famous faces we lost over the course of the year.
And next month Chris will unveil the 10th and final instalment of his celebrity montage series.
To mark this milestone, he will publish a commemorative coffee table book, present an exhibition,
A Decade in the Lives, at the Museum of Comedy and auction an exclusive collection of limited-edition prints on December 16. A percentage of the profits will go to the Actors’ Trust.
• The Museum of Comedy is at The Undercroft, St George’s Church, Bloomsbury Way, WC1A 2SR. For more details visit Chrisbarkerprints.co.uk
