‘Join a car club’

• I HAVE lived in Camden without a car quite happily for the past 40 years, so I have a few suggestions for Marcia MacLeod, (Anti-car? Join me on the allotment, August 17).

Join a car club for those journeys to the allotment. There are plenty of locations in Camden.

Shop online for bulky and heavy grocery items, as I do, although from a cheaper brand than Waitrose. And do top-up shopping locally.

Don’t worry about being dirty and smelly on public transport when it’s hot. You are not alone.

And please, don’t wait for others to take the lead in reducing their use of electronic devices and holidays before you consider the negative effects of car ownership.
