• AS Jewish Labour councillors we are appalled by the Conservative candidate for Mayor of London Susan Hall’s latest outburst at their party conference this week.

As if liking tweets praising Enoch Powell and Islamophobic posts about Sadiq Khan wasn’t bad enough, the Conservative candidate has been stoking up hate yet again and using the Jewish community as her political football.

Susan Hall argued that the Jewish community is “scared of” Sadiq Khan and that he must be defeated in May to make our community feel safe.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. Mayor Sadiq Khan has consistently worked with and represented Jewish communities across London and Camden.

He has been a loyal friend to our community throughout his tenure, and has called out
anti-Semitism wherever it has reared its ugly head.

Susan Hall’s nasty politics have zero place in our city.

We call on her to retract these statements and for the Camden Conservatives, their Barnet and Camden GLA candidate and their councillors to urgently and unequivocally call out her damaging rhetoric.
