• THE Kiln theatre should hang their head in shame for attempting to ban the New Journal from the new theatre. Do we no longer live in a democracy?

It was bad enough that artistic director Indhu Rubasingham had the nerve to go against 99 per cent of the public and change the much-loved Tricycle’s name to Kiln. It’s a community theatre, paid for with public money, and it is time she woke up and listened to the public.

The title “artistic director” should be taken away from her and replaced with “artistic dictator”. She’s says she’s not for turning, but even Margaret Thatcher had to… eventually!
