HS2: ‘Not everything adds up to £ and $ signs, prime minister Rishi Sunak!’

• I WOULD like to add to points raised by Martin Sheppard about HS2, (HS2 is a white elephant and a dead duck, October 19).

I recall having tea with then MP Frank Dobson, Jane and Jo Hurford in the parliament café years back. Frank said that the HS2 should have gone into St Pancras for connectivity to Europe. And besides it would cause far less damage, than into Euston station where it was overburdened already.

Even ending HS2 at Old Oak Common would offer so many more useful connections to existing lines. Arriving into a Euston terminal gives travellers few onward connectivity options.

To rape and pillage the Camden area for its high price per square foot of central London real estate while getting exorbitant high salaries, is unconscionable!

Apart from wreaking major havoc in Camden for home and business owners HS2 has killed two much-loved green spaces.

Not everything adds up to £ and $ signs, prime minister Rishi Sunak! Build homes outside London. And, while you are at it, flood barriers!.
