THE wedding guest list had a twist.
For Lexi and Jody Darling, it wasn’t just a case of inviting close friends and family.
Lexi is a wedding photographer and tied the knot on Saturday to her fiancé, Jody, at Camden Town Hall.
And when they started planning their nuptials, Lexi thumbed through her address book and decided to invite couples whose weddings she had attended – as their official photographer.
At the ceremony, 15 happy partners Lexi had shot – and then become friends with – showed up to help her celebrate being on the other side of the lens for the day.
For Lexi, it felt natural to ask couples whose big day she has documented to come along to hers.
She said: “I set up my own agency, Fleming Photography, in 2014 and I have met the most amazing couples down the years.
“I saw people get married in lots of different ways and I have stayed in touch with so many people who have invited me to capture their wedding.
“When we got engaged in January, we knew we wanted a London wedding. We decided to invite people whose weddings I had been to. I sent them all an invite saying ‘I have watched you get married, so come to mine’.”

Lexi began working as a photographer aged 16 and has taken music imagery and taught photography before setting up her wedding photography business.
She said: “I was asked to shoot a wedding and at first I was quite reluctant, but I said yes – and discovered it was just so much fun.”
And it was a beautiful experience to be the person in white for the day, she added.
Lexi said: “After taking so many pictures, I was looking forward to experiencing being the centre of attention for the day. Going into the ceremony was quite strange. I have shot weddings at Camden Town Hall and on Saturday I realised as I walked in that this time, it wasn’t a room full of strangers.
“Meeting Jody at the end of the aisle – I was shaking with nerves.
“And then I looked round and saw all these faces of people whose weddings I had captured.”
The couple have also decided to give themselves a whole new name: Lexi’s maiden name is Fleming, while husband Jody is a Hamblin.
Instead of taking each other’s monikers and creating a new, double-barrelled surname – “that would be too much of a mouthful” the happy couple say – they have decided to change their surnames by deed poll.

Lexi added: “It was a nickname we have for each other and have called each other for years, so when we were deciding surnames, we thought, why not Darling?”
After tying the knot at the Town Hall on Judd Street then headed to the Betjeman Arms in St Pancras Station for drinks and cake.
The wedding party was then marched through the streets of Bloomsbury to the sounds of a brass band, to finish off their celebrations at a bowling alley.
A honeymoon is planned for next year, they add. Lexi said: “We’re planning a road trip around Italy with our children – and then a trip to New York for just the two of us.”
