• JOANNE Reeves, chair of the Holborn and St Pancras Conservative Association, has got a cheek criticising Labour over the state of housing, (Where people go for help in Holborn & St Pancras, July 27).

The Conservative party has never helped the working classes in their history and nothing they say to get elected will change that.

It was Conservatives, with their Liberal Democrat allies, who sold any council home requiring as little as £10k to bring it up to scratch, not much more than a new kitchen and bathroom.

It was the Conservatives who sold off masses of council homes to those who could afford to buy, not what I had come to understand social housing was about.

It was the Conservatives who refused to allow councils to replace those homes.

It is the Conservatives who refuse to allow council the funds to bring social housing up to date.

Don’t fall for their lies. It is the Conservatives who screwed the economy and it is the working classes who will pay for it.
