• AS library/warm banks look to be the leading way to help this winter and it seems from your corres­pondent, Christine Moulie, that our community libraries may be in the vanguard of this initiative, (A library at your service, September 29).

Certainly, a drinks machine would be good but a kettle and various stores will do perfectly well.

It should be remembered that the prime purpose of a library is the furnishing of books and other materials, whether from stock or by ordering from elsewhere and so it would be useful to ensure that good searching and borrowing facilities are available both from Camden’s stock and from other locations.

It looks as if the tail will be wagging the dog.
