Plastic parking suspension notices endanger passers-by

• IT is surprising that Camden Council, which usually takes health and safety issues responsibly, ignores them completely when putting up parking suspension notices.

These sharp-edged notices, made of hard yellow plastic, are most often positioned at head-height where they can inflict serious damage to someone unfortunate enough to walk into them, as I witnessed this week during the day. At night they are even more dangerous. The corners could permanently injure someone’s eyes.

Often the pavement is narrowed by wheelie-bins which the council states should be left on there on collection days, and some remain there for days. With a little more effort the notices could easily be placed higher at the same height as the permanent notices (or just underneath them on the same post), thus preventing possible accidents.
