Labour councillor Paul Tomlinson has been blocked from standing again

• I AM appalled and shocked to read Labour councillor Paul Tomlinson has been booted out of the party’s team of election candidates, (The big purge? Councillor who spoke out against new skyscraper on green space is deselected by Labour, December 2).

As a resident on the Ampthill Square Estate I have, over the years, had a number of challenging issues with work discrimination and with Camden housing’s rigid attitude on a specific situation in my block.

On each occasion I contacted Cllr Tomlinson. He always made time to meet me and to listen to my problems. He rapidly and effectively acted on my behalf, writing letters and signposting me to relevant support. His considerate support was invaluable during stressful periods.

I found Cllr Tomlinson to be a modest and compassionate man, close to his constituents, with an aversion to injustice. For me he represents the true Labour values which seem to be lost with the current Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer.

I hope others will join me in denouncing this utterly unfair decision to deselect Paul Tomlinson and make the party realise who incarnates the real principles and ideals of the Labour Party.
