Hopeful Traders are raising funds for the Streets Kitchen homeless outreach group

TRADERS in Camden Town are selling a range of satirical Christmas cards which feature tampons and sanitary towels in place of iconic festive scenes in support of homeless women.

Hopeful Traders in Camden Market are leading the fund-raising drive with all proceeds going towards the purchase of “female hygiene products for homeless women”.

They are supporting Streets Kitchen, a group of volunteers that provide food and other essentials outside Camden Town underground on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings.

Jon Glackin, who helps run the group, said: “This is one of the most important items that we need donated to us to give women some dignity on the streets. Without this there’s very limited access.”

Hopeful Traders said: “In the UK, homeless shelters are provided with funding for items like condoms and razors but not female hygiene products. Inspired by the likes of Dignity Project and Homeless Period, Hopeful Traders has teamed up with Streets Kitchen to ask you to help provide a homeless woman with these much needed items whilst doing your Christmas shopping.

“Every penny you spend will go directly towards the purchase of female hygiene products for homeless women.”
