FOUR surviving Magna Carta manuscripts arrived at the British Library yesterday, in time for the historical document's 800th anniversary this year.

Only around 1200 people, who have been chosen by ballot out of over 43,000 applicants, will be able to catch a glimpse of the historical document while it remains at the library in King's Cross for three days.

It is the first time the four remaining copies have been brought together in one place. Created in 1215 and written entirely in Latin, the Great Charter stated that no one was above the law and that every “free man” had the right to a fair trial.

It is considered to be one of the most important documents in history, which influenced the creation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the US Constitution and more.
