Look at the bins rather than foreign policy
Thursday, 25th January 2018
• FROGNAL and Fitzjohns Labour are taking the voters for fools (A pro Brexit slate in our ward is not on…, January 18).
Local residents know that the council has no control over foreign policy issues such as Brexit, and also know that Labour have just repeated their determination to take Britain out of the European Union and the single market.
In any event, far from “working hard on the Leave campaign” (as the Labour candidates dishonestly and misleadingly say, without bothering to check it was true), I was actually a Remain supporter.
When it comes to the issues that local councillors actually decide, I am standing to bring back weekly waste collections for all residents. This will reverse Labour’s manifesto-breaching cut to fortnightly collections, and put an end to the epidemic of fly-tipping and overflowing bins in our ward.
Using my knowledge as a planning barrister, I will also continue to help residents to oppose over-sized development, as well as campaign to minimise traffic (especially during the school-run and construction traffic which, as a resident on Kidderpore Avenue, I face on a daily basis).
Camden Conservatives will also fund 18 additional police officers to help protect our borough from moped crime (which has significantly increased under our Labour mayor).
These are local issues that affect our ward on a day-to-day basis, and that local councillors actually have the power to help change.
