• LORNA Jane Russell, the Green Party candidate in today’s Camden Council by-election in Highgate ward, confirmed to your newspaper that she is proud to belong to a party that supports a ceasefire in Gaza, (Why I am standing, November 23).

This contrasts with the Labour Party in Camden that, under its leader Sir Keir Starmer, has steadfastly refused to call for a ceasefire.

I am not a Green Party supporter. Yet, in the present circumstances, I would urge all Highgate voters to vote Green on this occasion.

The Labour Party needs to realise that the people of Camden care about the lives of children. More than 4,000 children were killed by the time the “pause” in bombing was finally agreed.
