Kentish Town tube station needs a lift
Thursday, 28th September 2023
• I AM writing about Transport for London’s continued refusal to consider installing a lift at Kentish Town tube station, with the opportunity provided by the year-long closure.
TfL’s intransigence is a blow to the disabled community as there is no step free access to any tube stations in the area (the closest is Euston), (‘12 months of work and we’ll still not be able to use the tube’, June 23).
As a registered blind person, I am unable to use the Northern line independently. Other disabled people, particularly wheelchair-users, are also discriminated against by TfL’s stance. Camden Council and the local MP have not to date offered any support on this issue.
TfL has got to think again, stop discriminating against the disabled community, and make funding available for a lift.
