It’s the economy… at least it should be

• A VOTE for the Tories on June 8 is a vote for hard Brexit.

Theresa May has decided to focus on the desires of a narrow group within her party, instead of phasing out austerity and tackling stagnating wages and lacklustre productivity affecting us all.

Since 2010, under successive Conservative governments, real wages in the UK have fallen by one per cent, while GDP has grown by almost 20. These so-called gains are not accruing to working people, but to the ones who already have plenty.

In the same period, homelessness acceptances grew by almost half, food bank usage has exploded, and cuts to public services have been dire.

Virtually none of the promises made by the Leave campaigns ahead of the referendum have been kept as they were unrealistic or downright untruthful in the first place.

News that the European Banking Authority and the European Medicines Agency are moving out of London is an omen of more job losses to come.

Shouldn’t our PM use her majority to sort out the big economic problems affecting our country instead of pursuing an unwise and unpopular hard Brexit?

On June 8 we must send a message that we care about how prosperous we are and that some Brexits don’t really mean Brexit.
