Is it only the poor who need photo ID?
Thursday, 1st September 2022
• YOUR correspondent in relation to Camden Council’s requirement for cashing £150 government cost of living vouchers is misleading, (Photo ID is acceptable, August 25).
If residents had such ID why should they not cash them, even though some might struggle to get to a post office.
Whether or not residents in other countries have such ID is irrelevant to Camden. The fact is that thousands of our residents do not have photo ID.
Such an opinion seems to reinforce the belief, held in certain quarters locally, that if you are poor it is your own fault and you are feckless.
Camden councillors can claim £185 bicycle allowance. I wonder if they have to provide photo ID of their steed and its usage.
Or is it only the poor and needy that do to obtain their benefits?
