THE daughter of a musician found dead in a church garden told an inquest she had been lost to broken housing system which routinely put her in harm’s way.

Manuela Henrike Klock-Glazebrook, 57, a well-known face around Camden Town, died in June in the grounds of St Michael’s Church.

She had been moved into Camden’s hostels after losing her home 10 years ago.

But her daughter Loretta Glazebrook told St Pancras Coroner’s Court last Wednesday that within that system she had been victim of sexual assault, reported multiple attacks and – despite an extensive list of mental health diagnoses – was not under the care of any services or receiving medication at the time of her death.

Coroner Mary Hassell ruled Ms Klock-Glazebrook had died from an acute cardiac arrest which was “alcohol and drug-related”.

Her daughter told the court: “My mum was an amazing person whose character got diminished by being forced to be around particular types of people, given the environment she had to stay in.

“This has always disappointed me. The system made it harder for me to maintain a healthy relationship with my mum. I definitely feel that she was taken away from me.”

She added: “There were many occasions when my mum would turn up with black eyes, her head split open. I was told many times she had been robbed or raped. She felt safer sleeping on the street.”

Police had set up a crime scene in the garden of the church due to suspicions about two men spotted behaving suspiciously shortly before her death.

But on closer inspection there were no signs of bruising, bleeding or suffocation, and detectives ruled out foul play. A missing bank card had not been used.

After her death, Ms Klock-Glazebrook was given a full funeral in the church and dozens of fans of her music and friends attended a lively gig in her memory.
