WAC Arts, which is based in the old Hampstead Town Hall

• I WAS saddened to read that WAC Arts, a youth charity that has been so much part of Camden’s vibrant cultural life for 40 years, could have lost its way so quickly, (Famous arts college’s future is under threat, claim former pupils, July 16).

Maintaining financial stability is an ongoing challenge for all charities, yet Wac Arts survived the financial crash of 2010, the loss of regular Arts Council funding in 2013, and when I stepped down as CEO in September 2016 at the end of our financial year we were predicting a small loss covered by reserves.

We were also delivering innovative and inclusive programmes every weekday, at weekends, in every school holiday and for three nights a week. If the WAC Arts Concerns Group’s account is accurate, what happened?
