Disturbances and anti-social behaviour do not take place within the children’s play area or playground

Thursday, 3rd August 2017

• WE have seen the article regarding issues with disruptive behaviour on the Peckwater estate (Playground ‘is like a nightclub’, July 27).

We would point out that the disturbances and anti-social behaviour reported do not take place within the children’s play area or playground. Our manager, staff team, trustees and parents of the project are very upset by the misleading article published.

The project work very closely with many families and residents of the estate and work hard to provide the local children with a safe place to socialise and have fun.

We are very thankful for the support from our local community who have posted positive feedback and support on the New Journal’s Facebook post and on your social media.

We will continue to provide our services to the many children and families on and around the Peckwater estate as we have done since 1973 and would appreciate all these points be recognised.

We would like to invite you down to our project, which is currently running our popular playscheme, so you can also see first-hand the work we do in and around the playground and estate.

FROM ALL AT THE NW5 COMMUNITY PLAY PROJECT

• THE Editor writes: The New Journal would like to clarify that concerns over outdoor areas in the Peckwater estate being used for late-night, anti-social behaviour do not relate to the playground used by the NW5 Project, an excellent community initiative and small charity that this paper is happy to support.
