• DAVID Reed needs to read GOV.UK road casualty figures more carefully because he was wrong in stating that cars killed over 1,500 people, (Reasons the car must go, August 10).

He was actually quoting the total road deaths for all vehicles and the correct number for just cars is 1,216. Similarly his quoted number of 128,209 casualties of all severities also is the total for all vehicles and not cars.
