• IN answer to John Stratton’s unfriendly letter (So why not stand as a councillor? CNJ January 5), I would like to say thank you to Mick Farrant for raising the issues he writes about.

In response to Mr Stratton’s suggestion that Mr Farrant stands for election: as we have a “cabinet” system in Camden only a small number of councillors have power and the majority have very little influence. They are also likely to be deselected if they try to represent their residents’ interests.

Mr Farrant, please carry on and thank you for doing this work on our behalf.
