Blues Kitchen looks to break world record for longest ever musical jam
Wednesday, 10th September 2014

A CAMDEN Town music venue is celebrating its fifth birthday this month with a 48-hour live music session.
Over 100 musicians, ranging from amateurs to professionals, will be taking over The Blues Kitchen in Camden High Street from 12pm on September 21, to attempt to break a world record for the longest continuous jam session. Ian Siegal, The Beekays and Little Barrie have already been confirmed as special guests at the event, which will also be broadcast live on Facebook.
The venue will donate £10 for each person who steps on stage to the Kids Company charity, which provides support for vulnerable inner-city children.
Hammocks and earplugs will available for any performers who need a rest during the two-day music extravaganza, and signature Southern style food will be on offer, with free buffalo wings for the audience in the small hours of the morning.
Hosts are also hoping to find a “super-fan” who stays for the entire marathon session.
Liam Hart, Creative Director of The Blues Kitchen said: “This is our way of raising a glass and tipping a hat to everyone that has made the last five years unremittingly kick-ass. The constant stream of artists at our weekly Sunday Jam got us wondering how far we could actually take the session if we didn’t close. I guess that now we’re going to find out.”
