Your correspondent Herman Tribelnig (Could the old station be reopened?, June 29), cited the disused Kentish Town South tube station, closed at a time presumably when it was assumed cars would render the underground obselete. Likewise, Beeching axed a vast part of our national rail network in the early 1960s.
