First look at how new Chalk Farm cinema could look
Monday, 27th October 2014

IMAGES of how the former Marine Ices restaurant and ice cream parlour in Chalk Farm could look were unveiled at an exhibition over the weekend.
International development firm London and Regional Properties want to build 19 homes with a three screen cinema and restaurant – and showed more than 70 people their vision for the site, which includes new housing on the site of an ice cream factory behind Chalk Farm Road.
The firm, which owns property ranging from the London Hilton Hotel on Park Lane to the Empire cinema and casino in Leicester Square, say if the plans go ahead a new restaurant will include a counter serving up the renowned ice creams that made the site famous.
Architects drawings reveal the empty restaurant would be demolished to be replaced with the new two-screen basement cinema with a further screen on the ground floor.
Marine Ices shut the doors to its home of 80 years in August. Owned by the Mansi family between 1931 and 2012, a smaller ice cream parlour continues to sell the famous Italian family's ice cream 300 yards along Chalk Farm Road.
London and Regional Properties say they hope to have a planning application submitted by January 2015.
