Job Summary
Are you keen to pursue a career in Finance? Then come and be part of our team at LFS, as an Apprentice Finance Administrator. Our post-graduate school is the oldest film school in the UK, known for its innovative and creative approach to teaching.
We will support you to achieve a Level 4 Professional Accounting Technician qualification, while you have the opportunity to be a part of a dynamic and exciting environment that celebrates and nurtures the art of filmmaking.
Working closely with the other members of our small and friendly Finance team, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely payment of both supplier invoices and employee expenses, supporting the ‘Purchase to Pay’ process and championing adherence to financial compliance. The successful candidate will be the primary contact for any queries on payables and receivables, with the confidence to communicate effectively with non-financial staff at all levels of the organisation. You will be responsible for the efficient and effective collection, monitoring of all fee income to the School, while having the opportunity to contribute to the improvement of existing processes.
Key responsibilities:
Purchase Ledger

Processing of supplier invoices, staff expenses and student production allowances as well as processing the weekly payment run.

Managing the Purchase Order system to ensure accurate coding, narrative and timely processing.

Manage the Accounts Payable mailbox

Assist student in prop hire for productions and reconciliation

Review credit card statements to ensure correct receipts, relevant supporting documentation and correct coding, as well as the monthly reconciliation thereof.

Set up new supplier and update existing accounts with full audit trail.
Income

Set up new student accounts

Accurately process the receipts from students (via Flywire)

Correctly allocate income received to customer accounts and update the School’s online payment portal

Allocate student deposits and liaise with the Registry department to update student payment profiles

Process and scrutinise data to verify any discrepancies

Support the month end process
The successful candidate will be educated to GCSE grade B/6 in Maths and English, or equivalent, and should hold an AAT Level 3 qualification, with excellent IT skills (SharePoint, MS Office suite). You will be aged 22+ (this is a stipulation of the BT Apprenticeship levy transfer scheme, of which LFS is a part). The appointee will have worked effectively in a similar role withing a Finance department, and have Sales and Purchase Ledger experience, with the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date data, as well as analyse and present this information in a user-friendly manner. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organisation and a willingness to learn are essential.
