SHARPSHOOTER Ty Enwens scored a goal worthy of winning any cup final on Saturday as Camden Elite narrowly beat Highbury Wolves to capture the Camden and Islington Midweek Youth League Under-9s Development Cup.
Team-mate Camron Ismail, 9, left opposing players in his wake as he whizzed down the wing before picking out Ty in the penalty area. With defenders hot on his heels, the talented eight-year-old calmly collected the pass before skilfully dragging the ball back to open up some space for himself and smashing home the only goal of the game.
Coach Sebastian Eurico said his super squad played so well throughout the cup competition that he couldn’t single out any one star player. “It was a tremendous team effort, I’m proud of all the boys,” he said.
“They played some fantastic passing football, and also showed some great individual skills to beat opposing players when they had to. My baby ballerz played the perfect tournament.”
The Camden and Islington Midweek Youth League now run Development Cups for their Under-8s to Under-11s age groups. General League Secretary Karen Greene said the competitions have been well-received by all the clubs.
“Reflecting on the FA’s recommended changes surrounding grass roots football, we brought in the Development Cups, which have proved a huge success and a great addition for the children,” she said.
