YOUR SHOUT: Red card contrite is the fans delight

LOST amidst the hustle and bustle of the transfer window headlines was arguably the worst red card ever seen in football.

It was shown to PSV full-back Jetro Willems, who received the fastest red in Eredivisie history when he was sent off after just 29 seconds against NAC Breda.

Replays proved the 20-year-old defender actually made no contact with opponent Gill Swerts! And on Wednesday the red card was rescinded after referee Kevin Blom admitted he had got it wrong.

I have to say I found it refreshing that justice was eventually done and that the match official was big enough to admit his mistake.

How great would it be if referees were among those who had to give interviews after games – if only so that they could explain those decisions they make that often bamboozle us!
