WELL done to my local newspaper!
It’s vital that when so-called fans use sport as a way of sharing their vile and unacceptable views of hatred that there’s as much coverage as possible in the press. It’s the only way that those in positions of power will be forced to do something about it.
I totally understand that it’s only a minority that still use foul and inappropriate language during matches, but any is too many in my opinion.
And with social networks such as Twitter giving these morons an even bigger platform to share their views, we can’t take the actions of just a few lightly.
In his column Tony Dallas said that “some pieces of garbage disguised as football fans” were “taking up much-needed space on our planet”.
Well, my only complaint there would be that his views aren’t nearly strong enough – but I’m sure, like me, what he is really thinking wouldn’t be allowed in print.
